ONYMA celebrates the wedding of Sekou and Kadi Sheriff
On Sunday, February 13 2011, ONYMA came together to celebrate the wedding ceremony of
one of its own- Sekou Sheriff as he takes the hands of beautiful Ms. Kadi Toure of the Bronx. The
event which was held at the residence of Sekou brought together a host of community members
as well as friends, family members and guests. The entire leadership of ONYMA and its members
were on deck at the residence of Sekou anticipating the arrival of the beautiful bride- Ms. Toure.
A convoy led by ONYMA’s CEO Famod Konneh and the soft-spoken Advisor Sheik Sirleaf arrived
with the bride amidst the overwhelming euphoria of ONYMA members and the attending guests.
As she entered the apartment, beautiful Ms. Kadi Toure smiled in shyness and discomfort; an
adherence to traditional and cultural practices.  Nevertheless, her unique beauty and positive
demeanor kept the audience on their feet in admiration and joy.
Since his arrival to ONYMA, Sekou has gained the admiration and respectability of his
colleagues and leadership. Speaking at the occasion, the president of ONYMA Famod Konneh
recounted the generosity and dedication that Sekou had brought to the organization. He praised
Sekou for his support and passion, which according to him has in many ways led to the progress
of ONYMA. It can be recalled, that Sekou as chair of the Planning Committee in November of
2010 successfully organized one of the most illustrious party in ONYMA. He also chaired ONYMA
2010 Tabaski program, which by all account was a success.  These and the combination of other
positive initiatives by Sekou won him the ‘Chairman of the Year’ award of 2010 in ONYMA.

The wedding was a celebration of unique proportion; the food and the coupe music in the
background created an atmosphere that couldn’t have been afforded. As a tradition in
ONYMA and in appreciation to his enormous contribution and sacrifices, a presentation was
made to Sekou. In the presence of family members and other respectable guests and friends,
the vice president of ONYMA Mr. Laye Sirleaf made the presentation to the couple on behalf
of ONYMA. He applauded Sekou for his commitment to the association and exhorted other
members to do the same. We are fortunate to have Sekou as a member of ONYMA.
