On behalf of the people of ONYMA, it is an honor and privileged to present to you our newly
constructed website. The purpose of this site is to enhance communication and fascinating and
incredible stories occurring within and beyond our community, Stories that impact our lives in many ways.
We at ONYMA pride of ourselves as not just one of the largest Mandingo community, but as part of the
largest African immigrant community in the United States. A community considered as an important
component of the rich cultural fabric of New York State. A community, whose numerous contributions has
made New York City to be recognized as the world's capital of diversity, achievement and opportunity. A
community recognized for its tremendous accomplishment in making New York City the most powerful
economic city in the United States, and perhaps in the world. This is the community that we represent; a
community whose diversity serves as a source of strength, and also a source of challenges, A
community with the oldest Liberian Mandingo association in the United States.
All Mandingo-Federation in the USA, that is now called FELMAUSA. A community that has organized
some of the most highly attended events in an attempt to empower its people and bring some hope of
solidarity and peace that have long been aspired. We represent this community. ONYMA has been seen
by many as a beacon of hope for the Liberian Mandingo community in New York. The establishment of
this website is a manifestation of that belief and ONYMA hopes to preserve it by uniting all Mandingo of
New York under one broad based principle. We hope to encourage a healthy dialogue that will stimulate,
excite, nourish, and fulfill our people and transform our community. With you support, we will exceed
every expectation placed upon us. It is my fervent hope that we will utilize the full potential of this new

The Organization of New York Mandingo (ONYMA) formally the New York soccer team was established in
December 2007 in the Bronx, NY by some progressive youth. In 2009 the team was successfully
transformed into a general body. Its leadership was structured to reflect the change while still maintaining
its unique soccer identity. The primary goal of ONYMA is to promote unity amongst the Mandingo
Community of New York and to network with other local organizations through peace and social
development. The youth having realized the division that has plagued the Liberian Mandingo Community
in New York, decided to take on a new course in reuniting the community. Political division and power
greed had torn the community apart and held its members hostage

In response to this situation, the youth established a renewed vision for peace through Sports. Since its
establishment in 2007, ONYMA has undertaken some important social, economic and educational
projects in the community. The association has also experienced tremendous growth and support
through its membership commitments, community participation and peacemaking initiatives. ONYMA
practices soccer every Sunday and holds general meeting on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5: pm.
ONYMA understands that sport is fundamental to its existence and therefore, soccer will remain as the
core unifying element of its community. We the people of ONYMA promise to establish the paradigm for
which our future generation will build on, and promise to work under the confines and the premise of the
Law of the State of New York. With our eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we hope to
succeed in our mission.
