The Organization of New York Mandingo Association (ONYMA)

The Organization of New York Mandingo Association (ONYMA) – is a premier group that advocates for social justice and reforms within the African community. Since its formation, ONYMA has been leading the path of political and social reforms in New York and some parts of the United States.

Preamble

The Organization of New York Mandingo Association (ONYMA), formally the New York Soccer Team was established in December 2007 in the Bronx, NY by some progressive youth. On 2009, the New York Soccer Team successfully transformed into a general body with a leadership structure reflects the change yet maintaining its unique soccer identity

The principal goal of ONYMA is to promote unity amongst the Mandingo Community of New York and to network with other local organizations in transforming and elevating the social and political discourse. The major reason for the transformation is to redirect the youth from the unnecessary political division of a system to promoting education, a healthy lifestyle, and community inclusion

Our passion

Since 2007, ONYMA has undertaken some important social, economic, and educational projects in the community. The association has also experienced tremendous growth and support through its membership commitments, community participation, and peacemaking initiatives

Our organization transcends religious or cultural boundaries, even though our members are practicing Muslims. We have interacted with groups from different religious and cultural beliefs. Our yearly activities calendar has different sporting activities, social gatherings, and charity works. 
 
Unlike other organizations, our funding comes from our generous members. Over the past decade-plus, we have been able to operate as a peaceful community. We celebrate and we mourn together. We pray and hope to improve yearly.
